Joe Schermann is a composer/lyricist/singer/actor/pianist/musical director/
vocal coach/strong supporter of slashes. His current projects include starring in and writing the music and lyrics for the feature-length indie film musical How Do You Write A Joe Schermann Song (Kitchen Table Films) and writing music and lyrics for the new musical Roulette.
His past projects as a composer/lyricist include contributing new music to the tap revue Riffin’ and Tappin’, music for the short musical Seeking Sondheim (with lyricist Jerron Herman) as part of the West Village Musical Theatre Festival (2011), music and lyrics for the one-act opera 1 in 6, What the F@#k Did I Just Hear: The Music of Joe Schermann (music and lyrics), Heartache, Milkshakes and Broadway (music and lyrics), The REAL Men of Broadway cabaret series (music and lyrics). As a musical director and conductor he has worked productions of White Christmas, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Bat Boy: The Musical and Grease among others.
He currently lives in Brooklyn, New York.
